Guide to Mosaic Classes at Disney Resorts

How It Works:

➔Choose a base. Every class offers several different base options. You can choose each base shape in either black or white.

➔Select your tiles. Glass tiles in many different colors are available, and you can use as many colors as you like.

➔Place your tiles. You’ll first arrange your tile placement on a paper template, transfer the tiles to your base, and then glue down your tiles.

➔Apply grout. After the glue dries and your tiles are firmly stuck in place, you’ll apply grout that matches your base color (black or white). The class will end at this point and you’ll take the mosaic with you, while the grout is still wet.

➔Clean up your finished mosaic. The grout needs to dry for several hours. Once dry, you’ll need to wipe all the excess grout off of your mosaic and clean it up. Then it’s ready to be displayed!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are kids allowed to participate? This activity is intended for adults or kids aged 12 and older. Younger kids are allowed to work alongside an adult, but parents should be aware that this is a messy activity that involves glue, grout, and small tiles that are a choking hazard for small children. The class is 2 hours long and kids may be bored during long waits for glue to dry. Tile placement will involve a lot of patience and strategic thinking to create a nice finished product with color schemes, patterns, and evenly-spaced tiles. However, the mosaic class at Boardwalk is a little different and easier for younger kids!

How long is the class? Mosaic classes last for 2 hours, and they take just about the entire 2 hours to complete. You must arrive within the first 30 minutes of the class to participate. Experienced artists can finish in about 90 minutes.

Do I pay per person? No, you pay per mosaic. You are allowed to have multiple people work together on one mosaic if you’d like. When you make reservations, you’ll book the number of mosaics you want to do, not the total number of people. You’ll pay when you check in for your activity.

How do I make reservations? Each resort has a different method to make reservations. You can find details about how to sign up for each specific resort in the links below.

What if I can’t get advance reservations or decide to join last minute? Each class accepts walk-ups as long as they have space available! The class at Coronado Springs is most often sold out since it’s the only one Disney advertises online. But if the class you’re looking at is full, just sign up at another resort! The mosaic classes at the other resorts often have space available and are a great option for a rainy day or an afternoon break from the parks.

What’s included in the class? Every class includes the base, tiles, grout, and all the supplies you’ll need. You’ll also get a container to take your mosaic home in and wet wipes to clean up the finished product later that night. Some resorts also include a snack or treat as a part of the class!

Are the mosaics heavy? No, they have very light, laminate bases and are meant to be wall decor. These are not stepping stones and are not made of cement. They’re also pretty small - less than a foot in length. Easy to pack!

Are the mosaic classes at each resort exactly the same? The general idea is the same, but they all have different sign-up methods, different seasonal or character-inspired bases available, and different styles of tile. Some offer snacks or treats and some don’t. Some classes are located in spaces with beautiful views that really make the class extra special, and some aren’t. If you’ve done this activity before, it’s worth doing it again at a different resort!

Can I join a mosaic class if I’m not staying at the resort? Of course, this activity is open to everyone! If you’ve made a reservation for the class, Security will allow you to park if you’re driving. If you don’t have a reservation and want to walk into the class, you should arrive via Disney transportation.
