Fun at Fort Wilderness: Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long

Of all the free activities offered at Walt Disney World resorts, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long is one of the best! Located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, this activity is fun for the whole family and is a great way to fill a non-park evening. You’ll enjoy campfires, live entertainment featuring a cowboy sing-a-long and character visits, games, dancing, a Movie Under the Stars, and more!

Everyone’s welcome at this activity, and you don’t need to be staying at Fort Wilderness to join the fun! However, you should be aware that it’s located in a pretty remote location, so you’ll need to consider the lengthy travel time to get to and from the activity before deciding if this is a good fit for your family.

GETTING HERE

As fun as this activity is, it’s primarily intended for Fort Wilderness guests who can conveniently drive their golf cart there, and isn’t designed for outside guests to get to easily. Also, driving to Fort Wilderness is not usually an option unless you have a reservation - the security guards are strict about visitor parking. So, I’ll break down the travel time needed for everyone below:

Basically, this activity is best for guests coming from Magic Kingdom or any Magic Kingdom area resorts, provided you have the afternoon free and plan to take the scenic route through the Settlement area. To make it a more enjoyable and relaxing afternoon, arrive early and plan to spend a couple of hours in the Settlement area before you head to the Campfire Theater. At Settlement, you can have dinner at Hoop-Dee-Doo, Crockett’s Tavern, or Trail’s End (see the blog post about Trail’s End family meal deals HERE). You can also visit the horses and ride ponies at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch (before 5:00 PM), shop at Settlement Trading Post, play on the playground, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage or wagon ride, and more. And on your way back via this same route after the Sing-A-Long, you can catch a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the Settlement boat dock if you time it right!

The route from Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs is similar in travel time, but your time is entirely spent waiting for buses and riding buses - really nothing scenic or fun to do along the way. So while it takes the same amount of time as the Magic Kingdom route, it feels a lot longer. And obviously, any of these routes could go faster if you get lucky and every bus/boat pulls up right when you need it, but these estimated times are cushioned to allow for waiting at every transportation transfer. Because that kind of luck happening on every leg of the journey is…very unlikely.

Every walk listed above is a 5-10 minute walk if you know where you’re going. If you’re new to Fort Wilderness, it can be confusing. You’ll probably get a bit lost as you’re walking around, so allow a little extra time to find your way through the Settlement and Meadow areas. Here’s a map of Fort Wilderness for your reference:

Before venturing out on this trip, make sure everyone’s got enough energy and can happily stay awake for 2 more hours of travel back to your resort after the Sing-A-Long (or order a Minnie Van). Most people will be fine on the way there and have lots of fun, but the trip back to your resort afterwards can be exhausting and feel like it’s taking forever, especially since parks will be closing around the same time you’re leaving, so all transportation will be very busy.

I timed my last trip out to the Sing-A-Long to help you know what to expect if you’re coming from another resort. I left Animal Kingdom Lodge, stopped at Settlement for dinner at Trail’s End, and only stayed for part of the Sing-A-Long. I skipped the Campfire Games and Movie Under the Stars, and it still took me 4.5 hours to get there and back. If you stay for the entire event, you’re in for a long night, likely arriving back at your resort around midnight.

ALL ABOUT CHIP ‘N’ DALE’S CAMPFIRE SING-A-LONG

This outdoor event happens every night (weather permitting). The movie lineup changes seasonally, and scheduled times will be adjusted periodically as sunset times shift. The current movie schedule and times can always be found on Magical Resort Guide!

Let’s look at everything happening at Campfire Theatre in the evenings, including the Sing-A-Long! The schedule listed here is accurate for Summer 2025, so be sure to check the current activity calendar for updated times after this post’s publication date.

5:00-5:20 PM & 6:00-6:20 PM: VISIT CHIP ‘N’ DALE

This is a fun & free character meet and greet that happens in the Meadow Recreation Area! Chip ‘n’ Dale will be roaming near the Campfire Theater, and guests are welcome to visit for photos and autographs!

7:00 PM: CAMPFIRE GAMES

More fun with Chip ‘n’ Dale as the crowd plays games like bingo, matching, or trivia! Games will be hosted by Cast Members and prizes are usually given.

7:30-9:30 PM: COUNTRY CAMPFIRE

The campfire here is different than what you’ll find at the other Walt Disney World resorts.

  • There are 2 fire pits at Campfire Theater (to help accommodate the larger crowd).

  • Guests are allowed to roast hot dogs as well as marshmallows, so this is a great option for a cheap family dinner! Hot dogs and buns are available for purchase in the nearby Meadow Trading Post.

  • Marshmallows and sticks are NOT complimentary at Fort Wilderness, unlike all other Disney resorts. You can purchase sticks, marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers individually in the Meadow Trading Post, or you can buy a full S’mores Kit from The Chuck Wagon inside Campfire Theater.

  • The campfires burn for 2 full hours here!

8:00 PM: CHIP ‘N’ DALE’S CAMPFIRE SING-A-LONG

This is the main attraction! A cowboy will come onstage to lead country campfire songs and play the guitar. After 20 minutes or so, Chip ‘N’ Dale will come out and entertain everyone from the stage, and finally they’ll join the crowd for some interactive rounds of Hokey Pokey to end the Sing-A-Long. And one lucky family will be randomly chosen for a private meet and greet with Chip ‘N’ Dale and will be invited to escort them into the theater!

8:40 PM: MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

The evening ends with a Movie Under the Stars! The movie changes nightly, and the movie schedule can be found on the current activity calendar or posted on the board in front of Campfire Theater. Seating is metal bleachers, so guests may want to bring collapsible chairs or seat cushions.
